Happy Thursday! It’s my birthday today, so I’m keeping things light with a couple extra resources to keep you thriving as a tech leader.
Here’s one of my favorites from earlier in the month…
What tech leaders should be listening to this week: “On with Kara Swisher” featuring an interview with Brené Brown: The State ofLeadership in America Today.
Why Swisher’s interview with Brown on the state of leadership today is compelling: In one word, leaders across industries (especially tech) are S-T-R-E-S-S-E-D. As highlighted by Brown, leaders are dealing with a ton: insane expectations, market uncertainty, politics (in-and-out of the office) … not to mention AI. Her thesis: More human, more purpose, more “above-the-line”mindset is critical right now – this is not the time for leaders to shrink and give into fear.
Simple “Go-Do’s” for tech leaders/performers: Take a few seconds and:
1. Download “On with Kara Swisher” or check it out wherever you get your podcasts. It’s just over an hour, so it’s perfect for your next(longer) Peloton session.
2. Don’t forget – I’ve created a ton of content related to leadership this year, and it’s all housed on the new Engaged Pursuitresource hub. Struggling with something? You’ll probably find a topic covered!
3. Have another idea you’d like me to cover? Send me an email anytime: tom@engagedpursuit.com.
Value Add – Additional ways to show-up as a leader: Need more Brené Brown? Adam Grant also interviewed on his “ReThinking”podcast. The conversation revolves around the concept of courageous leadership, but is bit more macro (also includes recommendations on defining your values, setting boundaries, etc.). Check it out using the link above or wherever you get your podcasts!
Here’s to your Engaged Pursuit!

Getting Unstuck
We always hear of individual contributors getting “stuck” on the job. But now more than ever, org leaders are finding themselves in the same situation…
